general faq

Why should I learn from Lunar Tennis?

At Lunar Tennis, we prioritise clear communication and a supportive learning environment. Our coaches who are AATC & GTPCA certified take the time to help you understand the concepts and biomechanics behind each stroke, so you feel confident knowing what’s happening and how to improve. We believe the best way to experience our coaching approach is through a trial lesson—where you can feel heard, supported, and see the difference for yourself. Book a lesson today!

What are your class packages like?

Our package are as follow:
Standard 5-hour package—(5 classes x 1 hour per class)
Extended 10 hour package—(10 classes x 1 hour per class) or (Flexible 1.5-2 hour class arrangements)

Our Extended 10-hour package classes provide a value added option for students who wish to take tennis up longer term or increase training hours. And yes! extended classes do come with an added discount! Package discounts are immediately accessible to students who have completed a trial or have already taken up a 5-hour package and wish to upgrade.

Am I required to already have tennis court access prior to registering for a class?

Not at all! We are happy to assist you in booking a tennis court after registering interest for a coaching session with us. Lessons can be conducted at both private and public tennis courts.

I don’t have access to private courts, do you have alternative tennis courts?

Lessons can be conducted at public tennis courts. You may take a look at the complete list of available tennis courts in Singapore and follow the instructions on each court’s own web address to make a booking on your own. Should you wish for us to do public court bookings on your behalf, we are happy to assist at an admin fee of $5 per hourly booking slot. Court fees are fully borne by the student.

Alternatively, for extended 10-hour package students, we can arrange private court bookings for you subjected to availability. Private courts provided by Lunar Tennis are charged at a flat rate of $15/hour.

Am I too old to start learning tennis?

Not at all! Age isn’t a barrier. What matters more is learning good fundamentals and progressing at a pace that suits you. We often remind our students that tennis is a lifelong sport and it’s never too late to begin.

Here at Lunar Tennis, we place strong emphasis on correct biomechanics and movement to reduce injury risk. Beginners start with essentials like grip, posture, footwork, and basic swing mechanics to build a safe and solid foundation.

How long does it take to learn tennis as an adult or child?

There’s no fixed timeline. Everyone learns differently and has different goals. Instead of rushing progress, we focus on building strong fundamentals and steady improvement that lasts

Are tennis lessons safe for beginners?

Yes, when taught properly. At Lunar Tennis, we place strong emphasis on correct biomechanics and movement to reduce injury risk. Beginners start with essentials like grip, posture, footwork, and basic swing mechanics to build a safe and solid foundation.

Should I take private or group tennis lessons?

Both work well. Private lessons offer personalised feedback and faster clarity, while group lessons provide shared learning and rally practice. We’re happy to advise based on your goals, schedule, and learning style

What happens if it rains during a tennis lesson?

If weather or court conditions aren’t safe, your coach will decide whether to reschedule or adjust the session. Your safety always comes first.

(Refer to Weather & Court Conditions in our T&C right below this section or in your invoice on the refund policy during wet weather)

What should I wear and bring for my first tennis lesson?

Come in comfortable sportswear and suitable sports shoes. Tennis shoes are ideal, but proper sports footwear is fine to start. Don’t have a racket yet? No problem!  We can provide one for your lesson. Oh! don’t forget to stay hydrated as well during the session

What are your tennis coaching trial classes like and how is it calculated? What is the +$5/pax trial fee?

Our trials give you an opportunity to experience what coaching with us at Lunar Tennis is like.

We charge a trial fee of an additional +$5/pax fee on top of a 1 lesson fee so you do not need to commit to a standard 5-hour package (5 classes x 1 hour per class) right off the bat. However upon completion of your trial, if you like our coaching style, you can upgrade to a 5-hour, 10-hour package or longer package within 24 hours and we will waive off the $5/pax fee.

Do I need to commit immediately to a 5-hour package?

Not at all. Starting something new can feel uncertain, especially if you’re new to tennis. That’s why we recommend beginning with a trial lesson. It gives you a chance to experience our coaching style, communication, and teaching approach before deciding

If you enjoy the trial session, you may convert to a package within 24 hours of completing your trial and have your $5/pax trial fee waived off!

Is coaching only for beginners?

Not at all. While many of our students are beginners, we also work with intermediate and experienced players. Whether you’re looking to refine technique, improve match play, sharpen tactics, or stay injury-free, our role is to provide clear diagnosis, meaningful corrections, and guidance across technique, tactics, and the mental side of tennis

What certifications do your coaches have?

Our coaches hold recognised certifications from the Australasian Academy of Tennis Coaches (AATC) and the Global Professional Tennis Coach Association (GPTCA). They are also certified in CPR and AED. Beyond certifications, our coaches have real on-court experience coaching and competing in tournaments across Singapore — which helps us teach clearly, practically, and safely

Children & family class faq

What is your coaching approach for children and what age can my child start?

At Lunar Tennis, we focus first on fun, movement, and finding the spark—because a genuine love for the game builds lasting resilience and growth on and off court. Our age-appropriate sessions help children develop coordination, fundamentals, and a positive mindset in a supportive environment.

Children can start from as young as 18 months old, and we also offer family-centric lessons so parents and children can learn and grow together!

I’m interested in Family Tennis lessons but my children are in different age groups, can we still sign up?

Absolutely! You can mix and match the lesson cost based on your child’s ages. The minimum requirement would be 2 adults. There is currently no cap for children as we welcome large families however if we collectively find that the group is too large for a conducive learning environment, we may recommend alternatives such as a children’s group class or added assistant coach.

Example [A] a family of (2 adults and 3 children—ages 3,7,8) would be calculated as:
1) 1 Adult + 1 Child (3YO): $59 (Tiny Tots)
2) 1 Adult + 1 Child (7YO): $69 (Junior)
3) Additional Junior Child (8YO): +$10 (Junior)
Total: $138

Example [B] a family of (2 adults and 3 children—ages 4,8) would be calculated as:
1) 1 Adult + 1 Child (8YO): $69 (Junior
2) 1 Adult + 1 Child (4YO): $59 (Tiny Tots)
Total: $128

Example [C] a family of (2 adults and 3 children—ages 7,8,12) would be calculated as:
1) 1 Adult + 1 Child (12YO): $79 (Sports)
2) 1 Adult + 1 Child (7YO): $69 (Junior)
3) Additional Junior Child (8YO): +$10 (Junior)
Total: $158

*Additional pax cost is calculated based on category add ons. So if you already have a “1 Adult + 1 Child—Junior Family” lesson pair, the next child that is also within that same age group will be the $10 add on. This keeps things fair for both coaches and families as materials for different age groups are prepared based on the three different age range categories: Tiny Tots Family (2-4YO), Junior Family (7-10YO) & Sports Family (11-13YO).

**Children under 2YO will categorised under Tiny Tots Family (2-4YO). the minimum age recommendation is 18-months but younger toddlers are allowed as long as they are already steadily walking and running.

Do I have to find my own group to sign up for a children’s group class?

Yes you will have to gather a total of minimally 3 children during sign ups on your own end in order to be eligible for a children’s group class. You may also indicate interest with us on our registration form and we can then pair you up with other families who are also looking to take up a children’s group class however this may take some time as every family has different date and time preferences and children may also be in different age groups.

Should my child take private or group tennis lessons?

Private lessons offer personalised targeted feedback and a more tailored experience for children who have found the spark in tennis and wish to pursue a potential professional career path.

Group lessons provide shared learning and socialization opportunities for a much more fun-centric approach. We’re happy to advise based on you and your child/children’s goals, schedule, and learning style. Reach out to us via WhatsApp to chat with our coaches at +65 8875 5432

What should children wear and bring for their first tennis lesson?

Come in comfortable sportswear and suitable sports shoes. Tennis shoes are ideal, but proper sports footwear is fine to start. Don’t have a racket yet? No problem!  We can provide one for your lesson. Remember to bring a towel, some snacks, a change of clothes and a bottle of water to stay hydrated!
